Nuts

First year for any filberts on the small new trees - planted 2009 I think.

And also first year to see any chestnuts on the 2009 trees.  Don't know who those bugs are but they are welcome so far.

These beautful insects were all over the hops, they don't look like they are eating them, they look more like predators, but I really have no idea.

Will there be grapes?

There are two white grape vines in the front yard, an Interlochen and a Himrod, bobth planted about 3 years ago, this is one of them, the first time I've seen any bunches.  I don't know what they are supposed to look like at this point, need more water?

Lazy composter

When we clean the chicken coop and duck pen, rather than pile the bedding to compost before using it, I just mulch it around young fruit trees and let it compost slowly in place.

Rapture of the Photons

Here's a picture of one of our three pv systems here. This is a 2KW array composed of (12) Sharp 165 watt pv modules on the roof of our shop. The black collector on the south wall is a 20 tube Solamax solar thermal collector, which is now on the east wing of our house, preheating mom's somestic hot water. For more info on solar, check out http://www.powertripenergy.com

Rapture of the Dirt
